About the Product
On land, on sea, in clouds, and even in space, battles are breaking out between toys. Your troops need your tactical talent to lead them to victory. Your mission? Be the first to reach the enemy headquarters or control more territories than your opponent.
On your turn in Toy Battle, you either draw two toy troops or place a troop on the board and apply its effect. When you place a troop, you can place it on an empty base, a base that you control, a base that the enemy controls with a lower-valued troop than the one you're placing, or the enemy's headquarters; however, in all cases you must place on a location that has a continuous path to your own headquarters through bases that you occupy, that is, that have your troop on top. If you occupy bases that form a continuous path around a region, you claim the medals within this region. (You don't lose these medals if the enemy later occupies one of these bases.)
The game ends as soon as you occupy your opponent's headquarters or win the required number of medals based on the current game board. If a player cannot draw or place a troop, the game ends, and whoever has the most medals wins.
What People Are Saying
"Excellent — Always want to play." — Meeple Mountain
"It's a fast-paced game of small-scale warfare whose short playtime makes it the easily digestible fast food version of contemporary two-player battlers." — Meeple Mountain
What players love:
- Plays in 5–15 minutes — fast enough for multiple rounds back-to-back, deep enough to keep you thinking
- Hidden troops create real tension — you're never quite sure what your opponent is holding, making every engagement a calculated risk
- Every troop does something different — unique abilities mean chaining plays and reading the board matters as much as raw power
- Supports both aggression and defence — rush the enemy HQ or build a wall around yours — both strategies can work
- Eight different battle maps — each one creates a new strategic puzzle, keeping the game fresh well beyond your first session
If you grew up playing Stratego and always wanted it faster, tighter, and cuter — this is it.
Game Mechanisms
Area Majority / Influence Players compete to control bases across the battlefield. Surrounding enclosed sections of bases earns medals — and once claimed, those medals are yours to keep even if your opponent recaptures the territory. Controlling more of the board is the path to victory, but holding ground is just as important as taking it.
Zone of Control You can only place a troop on a base if you have a continuous, unbroken path of controlled bases from your HQ to that location. This means every advance is also a potential vulnerability — extend too far on a single route, and your opponent can cut your supply line and shut down your momentum.
Hidden Information Each player's troops are kept hidden from their opponent on a personal rack. You know your own forces but must read the board, deduce your opponent's options, and make educated guesses about what's waiting for you when you contest a base. Managing what you reveal — and when — is half the strategy.
Multiple Maps The game includes four double-sided battle maps, each with a unique layout of bases and special spaces that add extra effects to troop placement. Every map creates a different strategic environment, ensuring that what worked last game may not work in the next.
