The cards are face-up. The equipment tiles are piled in the centre. Everyone sees what's coming — but you've got to load your ship before anyone else does, and you can only use one hand.
Anchors Aweigh! is a fast, frantic family game about racing to pack your ship with the right supplies, then setting sail to make the most of what you grabbed. Each round opens with all players simultaneously grabbing equipment tiles with one hand, trying to fill their cargo hold with the best combination for the adventure cards in play. The first player to finish shouts "Anchors Aweigh!" and collects all the face-up cards — everyone else has to finish loading from memory, hoping they grabbed the right gear.
Then comes the voyage. Cards flip one at a time: Discovery cards let you swap equipment, Trade cards convert goods into coins, and Pirate cards force everyone to commit to fighting or fleeing before the stakes are revealed. Pack wrong and the pirates clean you out. Pack right and you sail home the richest captain on the water.
Two rounds, no downtime, and every decision happens simultaneously. It plays in about 20 minutes and works equally well with kids and adults at the same table.

Game Mechanisms
Real-Time Loading There are no turns in the loading phase — every player grabs tiles simultaneously with one hand, racing to fill their ship. The moment someone finishes and shouts "Anchors Aweigh!", the cards are swept up and the scramble ends. It's fast, physical, and loud in the best possible way. The one-hand rule keeps it fair and adds a satisfying layer of chaos.
Set Collection The adventure cards laid out before loading telegraph exactly what will be rewarded on the voyage. Savvy players scan the cards first, figure out which equipment combinations pay off the most, then grab accordingly. It's a quick puzzle under pressure — you have maybe thirty seconds to decide what your strategy is before someone beats you to the tiles you need.
Memory After the first player finishes loading and collects the adventure cards, everyone else must complete their cargo hold from memory — the face-up reference is gone. Players who were paying attention to what cards are in play have a real edge here. Players who were just grabbing tiles at random find out the hard way that the pirates wanted exactly what they left behind.
Hidden Information Each ship has a screen that hides part of the cargo hold from other players. You can see what your rivals loaded up top, but their below-deck goods are a mystery. This creates a bluffing layer during the voyage — when a Pirate card flips and everyone must declare fight or flee simultaneously, you're reading the table and guessing what everyone else brought without being able to see the full picture.
