About the Product
Product Description
A priceless MacGuffin has been stolen from the Museum of Everything. You have five minutes to find the thief.
5-Minute Mystery is a cooperative real-time game that mashes up hidden object searching with Clue-style deduction — and it works beautifully. Players divide up illustrated scene cards, scanning frantically for hidden symbols. Feed those symbols into the rotating Codex dial and it spits back clues about the culprit's attributes. Narrow down the suspects. Catch the thief. Beat the timer.
Each case takes around five to ten minutes, setup is nearly instant, and the 19 included cases with 40 scene cards means you'll play this one many times before it gets old. It's the kind of game that earns a permanent spot in the shelf-within-reach section — the one you pull out at the start of game night or the end, when everyone's warmed up or winding down.
Best with two to three players, though it scales to six for a chaotic, high-energy group experience.
What We Think at WiredVillage Boardgames
We play this one often as a family. It’s a fun, quick-hit cooperative game that you can play once or keep running through cases as long as you want. Everyone is involved at the same time, scanning for symbols and calling out clues, which makes it lively and great for mixed ages.

Game Mechanisms
Real-Time Play The five-minute sand timer isn't decoration — it's the entire mood of the game. The moment it flips, the table transforms. Players are simultaneously scanning cards, calling out symbols, and cross-referencing the Codex with no turns and no waiting. The pressure is cooperative, which makes it exciting rather than stressful, and the short window means the intensity never wears out its welcome.
Cooperative Play Everyone wins or loses together, which means communication is half the game. Players naturally divide the scene cards between them, develop shorthand for describing symbols, and coordinate their findings toward a shared answer. Groups often find themselves inventing their own system by the second case — and that emergent teamwork is a big part of what makes it memorable.
Pattern Recognition The core of each round is searching illustrated scene cards for specific symbols hidden among detailed, whimsical artwork. It's a Where's Waldo-style challenge under a clock, and the symbols are deliberately tricky — similar shapes, overlapping details, and busy backgrounds that reward sharp eyes and a calm head.
Logical Deduction Once symbols are found and fed into the Codex dial, the real detective work begins. Each clue eliminates a category of suspects — ruling out certain heights, species, accessories, or expressions — until only one culprit remains. It's a process-of-elimination puzzle layered on top of the frantic searching, and the two mechanics balance each other surprisingly well.
