Last week's Game Day was a good one. Three games, very different vibes, and at least one moment where someone at the table definitely should have trusted their gut but didn't.
We kicked things off with Rumble Nation, which had been on our radar for a while. First impression: it looks a lot like Risk. Map of Japan, region control, armies moving around. But once you're actually playing it, the comparison falls apart pretty fast. The dice luck that makes Risk feel random just... isn't really there. Positioning and timing matter a lot more than rolling hot. If you've been burned by Risk and written off the whole genre, this one is worth a second look.
Then we tried Combo for the first time, and honestly it was the highlight of the night. The basic idea is that you're trying to build the best hand — but you need other players to contribute cards to make it happen. So you end up in this weird space where you're being friendly and persuasive and also quietly hoping nobody figures out what you're actually going for. It got loud. There was definitely some misdirection involved. Good time.
We finished up with Liar's Dice, which is a perfect way to end a night because it's low-effort to learn and somehow still tense every time. You're making bids on hidden dice, the numbers climb, and eventually someone calls it. If that style of game appeals to you, we carry Bulldonkey
