Forbidden Desert — a step up in challenge from Forbidden Island, with shifting sands and a buried airship to uncover.

Players are stranded explorers digging through a desert to find the parts of an ancient flying machine before the sandstorm buries them alive. The desert itself shifts and changes each round — tiles move, sand piles up, and your water supply dwindles. Each player has a unique role with special abilities, adding variety and teamwork to every session.

Forbidden Desert builds beautifully on everything that makes Island great — it’s a bit more complex, with more moving pieces and tighter resource management, but remains firmly in family territory. My son loves these games and Desert is a favourite. A great second step after Island.
